Bra Sizing – It’s Not Just the Cups

Raise your hand if you have silently felt great wearing the cute and perfectly fitting bra!

Bra sizing is pretty much scientific, nothing artistic but yet, it remains a mystery to many. You don’t have to start measuring all over again because measurements are not as accurate as compared to how you feel wearing it.

Your feelings make a better judge compared to the ruler.

Look for signs to see if you are in your perfect fit.

Are the straps digging in?

Is your bra band riding high?

Or are you suffocating?

The list of problems goes on and on but it all boils down to the feeling of discomfort. Are you uncomfortable in your bra? No? Great! Yes? Just do this.

You will be secretly happy when you wear your perfect fit

If your band is too tight, go up one band size but go down one cup size. If your band is too loose, go down one band size and go up one cup size.

It’s that simple. There should be no complications.

To Lace or Not To Lace

“Lace Bra is a different bra type isn’t it?” No, it certainly is not. If you think of Lace as a detail and not a style, it will not only make bra shopping less cumbersome but it also makes you understand the functionality of a lace bra better. Whether to lace or not to lace, that is the question you should be asking, not if this is an entirely different bra type that you should not leave out in your lingerie wardrobe.

The beauty of a Lace Bra is how it can influence how you feel from within and define who you truly are. In your years of wearing a bra, have you thought of who is it that you are wearing for?

Sounds silly?

Are you wearing what you are wearing to conform to the societal beauty standards that your boobs need to look big and sexy? Or are you wearing bras so your boyfriends think you are hot? Or are you wearing them because you feel good in them? Does your confidence shine through and puts that smile onto your face? Do you radiate positivity because it empowers you?

Like all bras, deciding whether or not to go all lacey has a lot to do with how it makes you feel. Whether we like it or not, what we wear on the inside has a huge impact on how we feel – be it our self esteem, body image, mood, energy and even how our day has been. So if you put a lot of work into crafting your perfect OOTD, you will also want to work on what you wear inside.

On most days, a woman’s self image tends to take a beating. The power of lace is that it makes you feel sexy. Lace is a symbol of femininity and romance. It has the ability to arouse the many senses of sensuality. Essentially, the importance of feeling sexy is likened to the air we breathe. When you feel sexy, you become the best version of yourself. You feel deeply desired. You even increase your sexual drive – you will want sex even more and your health will be thanking you soon.

Ignore what the media says about societal norms of conforming to impossible beauty standards of thinness and proportionate body measurements; you do not have to live by these unrealistic expectations. You are unique being yourself.

The way you feel about your body image is 80% what you think the world thinks about you and 20% of what you really are. You will want to reverse that. Nothing looks better on you that confidence that shines from within.

Bra Care like You Care

How exciting would it be to find fresh new bras in your closet every time you open it?

While you can’t be buying new bras every weekend, you can definitely learn some tricks to keep them new.

It’s crazy how you spend thousands a year on bras but you are completely clueless when it comes to caring for them. It is good news for lingerie retailers when users don’t know bra care because a shorter life span means more repeat sales.

Can you imagine having a pet dog and feeding and treating it right? You don’t expect the dog to live past 60 days do you?

….”But it’s just bra”. Yes it is just bra, but that doesn’t mean you don’t care for them – right?

If you’re going to be spending anyway, you should be spending on different types and styles of lingerie because of the different occasions where you will need them, not because the 3 month old bra has gone out of shape because it was spun and twisted harshly in the washing machine on high temperatures.

As worthy as bras are as investments, they are also very delicate investments so it pays to learn and be aware of how to treat them like your best friends.

They work so hard for you. They make sure you have the right support, the perky boobs, the cleavage so deep you can pour wine into (and feeling naughty about it) and more importantly, they make you feel great!

There are only 2 ways to washing everything – either you manual wash them or you put it on auto.

While you should really hand wash your bras, you’re going to scream about your morning rush hour traffic, your next appointment with your client, your dinner date, your coffee that’s boiling in the machine – we know you have so much to do with so little time.

If you’re not going to hand wash them, you have to wash your bras in the washer on the gentlest cycle there is and you have to put them in a bag.

Do not stuff too many bras in a bag or they won’t be clean. Hook the bands together and wash them with similar colors and never ever spin them dry.

Air dry them and if you cant wait for your bras to dry, you can either wear something else or buy a new one. We have good bras too!

You will never want to hang them like this! You should first towel dry your bras to remove excess water and then lay them flat to dry.

But if you have to hang, make sure you hang them at the centre gore so gravity wouldn’t pull the bra loose.

Remember, you will be excited to see fresh new bras every time you open your closet!

What is the Best Bra?

….”What is the best bra?”…

We get asked this a lot at our fittings; even at times when we’re just chatting with friends.

Here’s the idea. There is no best bra.

It’s just like asking the best time to do something.

You don’t ask for the best time to do something, you’ll know when it’s time. What you’re actually feeling is readiness, courage, confidence, certainty – it’s how you feel from within you that matters. No one is supposed to tell you what or how to feel, right?

It’s the same for lingerie. There is no best bra – but there is how you want to feel and how the bra can best bring that feeling out in you.

Bras have come a long way since breastbags and the handkerchiefs with ribbons. They have evolved and adapted to the influence of fashion and sexual tastes of time. And speaking of sexual tastes, there are those who wear bras to feel sexy. So isn’t the feeling what it’s all about?

There are also women who wear bra to conform to societal norms. Then there are the ones who just want to keep the nipples from showing. If you are wearing bras on the inside as innerwear, then bras should be how they make you feel, not how sexy they look.

Many people get it wrong – they are being worn by the bras instead of them wearing the bras. What does that mean?

Have you seen a pair of boobs that is so awkwardly disproportionate to the body so much that the boobs look like they are screaming for help? Or boobs are pushed so high up that they look more like balloons than they are boobs?

If you’re feeling it, you are probably wearing what you think is the best bra.

Instead, ask yourself what do you want from wearing bra? If you are asking for the best bra, then what is it about the bra that makes you think it’s the best?

Or what do you want it for? For sex?

Then how about trying a pair of red lacy push up plunge bra? But what if you do not have the volume to create that sensual cleavage? Are you going to force yourself in and end up feeling uncomfortable? And then lose all the confidence and passion for sex?

What you really want to do is to find the right bra for the right occasion to feel at your best.

If you have to lose the bra to feel great about yourself, go ahead and lose it because that itself is your best bra.

When To Wear A Plunge Bra

A Plunge Bra is truly one of the industry’s marvels. Although most would disagree, we think that this style is one of the most versatile styles that go with just about anything.

“…..Just about anything? Yes, just about anything.”

In our consultations and bra fittings, we have paired our collection of Plunge Bras across a variety of everyday fashion from formal suits to casual jackets and street blouses.

The Plunge Bra feels you from within, giving you that sense of empowerment a woman should have and not being gender sidelined in ways that annoy you to the bone. In a perceptual world dominated by man – but hey, as great as a man thinks of himself, he came from a great person called mother, who happens to be a woman, isn’t that so?

Not all superwoman wear capes, you can wear a Plunge Bra too! If anyone tells you that you are not good enough or that you are not qualified enough, you should get up, dress up and lift your spirits high because your confidence is shining right through.

Unless you are not wearing the right fit, a Plunge Bra is the wonder woman of your collection. Whether you are dressing up for work, going for a dinner date or simply dressing to impress, you’ll find that a Plunge Bra is almost as good as a one for all innovation.

So what exactly is a Plunge Bra?

It is a style that dives into the centre of your chest which gives it the name Plunge, and flatters your neckline while hiding the fabric underneath your clothes. It is angled perfectly to naturally lift your breasts in the ways you have always desired.

When to Wear a Balconette Bra

Unless you are not wearing bras anymore, your lingerie collection is the backbone of your wardrobe that gets worn the most but gets the least love.

Like your other outfit, there’s a bra for every occasion which means you need to categorize them well.

A balconette bra is easily one of the sexiest everyday styles you have sitting in your wardrobe. It cups your breasts gently from below giving them a natural lift and a rounded appearance from the front. Its straps are further apart for a wider and lower cut neck line.

If your busts are pointing upwards and outwards, it’s definitely wrong. You should be feeling the confidence now that there’s more volume at the top giving the impression of fuller busts and your boobs should not look like they are popping out.

While it’s not the best option for a great cleavage, it’s certainly brings your volume game to the next level and it doesn’t make your boobs look fake – that’s the last thing you want to see happening.

A well fitted balconette bra makes the best of your décolletage.

How many times have you ditched that pretty off-shoulder dress because you look flat in it? Pretty sure you have abandoned the one with a square neck line as well. That’s not fair!

You can definitely pair your balconette bras with some of these tops.

When to Wear A Push-up Bra

Fact: Boobs come in different shapes and sizes!

Truth: Every pair of boobs is vying for some kind of push-up bra.

For most women, they wish for bigger boobies.

And for most women, a push-up bra is a holy grail and an affordable way to boost their breast sizes without having to go under the knife.

Also for most women, 85 percent are not well fitted in their bras. If you look down and see your nipples saying hi – or spillage around the boundaries of your bra, something must be wrong.

Retailers know this.

Seeing how you want to be the sexed-up vixen with push-up bras, it’s easy to fall into the trap of wearing the wrong one because every push-up bra does some form of lifting.

Know that push-up bras are for everyone – they were designed to give an illusion of bigger busts if you wish your breasts were bigger and they also hold them from drooping like a saggy grandma with the g-force if you wish your boobs were smaller.

Push-up bras work in just about everything you wear from a regular t-shirt to a neckline dress. Sounds silly?

Sometimes, all you need is the mirror – not the bra. See yourself in front of the mirror before deciding that this is the bra for you. Your boobs should not look like your nipples are being forced outward like a pair of lips desperately trying to kiss.

While push-up bras are made to enhance your silhouettes and sizes, it’s essentially made for confidence.

A fitted push-up bra magically makes you feel like a supermodel that has all the right proportions and curves and men drooling over your boobs.

And when’s best to wear it? It’s when you need that extra shot of self esteem.

How to Buy Lingerie for My Girlfriend (Part 2)

What’ the Occasion?

Size – checked. Style – checked.

Now that you have what you need to know, you can start hitting the stores. As daunting as it may now seem, shop with the end goal in mind and don’t be embarrassed. After all, the last thing you want to ruin is the surprise you have planned so long for.

As style matters, think of the occasion you are buying for. Did you just plan for a honeymoon in a hotel away from the city? Or are you just getting naughty?

Whatever it may be, different occasions call for different pieces. A good point to note is that women need at least 5 different bra styles in her closet.

If you have something planned for Valentine’s Day, something with lace will spice up the mood. If you’re celebrating her birthday and you want to give her something she can wear often whether to work or an outing with her girlfriends, something plain is a safe option. You can opt for black push up bra that gives her that added edge to complement her overall look.

Colours do make a difference too.

Lingerie is a whole lot of emotions and personality combined. Women do not settle for the idea of wearing just about anything that fits.

What she wears on her body is a representation of who she is. Sophisticated women tend to opt for dark but often times shiny shades. You will not go wrong with black and white if you are a first timer.

You could opt for brighter colours if she’s more of a jovial, outgoing, adventurous person. Try experimenting with pink, yellow and light blue. These are generally fun colours to go with.

Sales people can be helpful, but are they?

You may seem to get a lot of help from the sales people in the store since you might see them as being more experienced than you are.

But just because they have been wearing them doesn’t make them experts in knowing what you want, let alone letting them decide what your girlfriend should wear.

Considering that you already know what you want, run through your requirements with them and all they should be doing is to bring your desired pieces to you, not the ones they think your girlfriend likes.

When you are being approached, tell them about the size, styles and you can even tell them the occasion so they can give you some ideas too. Don’t be afraid to walk out politely if you do not like their available options. Move on to the other stores, you will definitely find the right one.

But if you are intimidated by the experience

Perhaps all you want to do is to shop online.

How to Buy Lingerie for My Girlfriend (Part 1)

Buying lingerie for your girlfriend sounds daunting. You don’t want to be the creepy guy checking out lace bras and thongs in Victoria’s Secret – the last thing you want to do is to appear shy and grabbing something lightning fast to avoid embarrassment and end up spoiling the experience you’ve planned so hard for. Here’s how to do it right.

Get the Right Size

This is a tricky one as most women may be self-conscious about how they look. If you get this wrong, nothing else will make it right. If you buy a size too big, she’ll probably feel insulted (she may think you call her fat). If it’s one size smaller, she’ll feel bad when trying to fit herself in because you make her think she’s actually smaller than what she is.

See, buying a bra isn’t just transactional, it is an emotional thing. Same goes to wearing it.

It has to feel good.

Ideally, you will have to do a quick check on the size she’s been wearing. Fret not, it’s on the labels stitched onto the bra. While you may not know, sizes can also vary from one brand to another – especially if the brands are from different parts of the world!

Know Her Style

Rummaging through her closet may not be a good idea but you could offer to do laundry. Offering to do laundry has an advantage because it gives you a picture of her lingerie pairing with what she will usually wear. Pick up those hints and make mental notes as you go through that pile of lingerie. You will find really good clues.

For the more simple, not fashion conscious guys whose idea of shopping is usually bulk purchasing plain grey t-shirts and jeans from your neighbourhood retail store, then understanding her style can be a little too much to ask for.

If that’s you, you can always focus on what you want as a gauge. A gift of lingerie can be seen selfish so you may want to present it well. What it means is that you need to find the perfect balance between what you want with what she usually wears.

If most of what she wears is plain single tone full cup bras, you can push the boundary a little with lace full cup bra. Not too daring yet not too conservative. But if you’re accelerating from plain boy shorts panty to a crotchless lace panty, you are definitely in trouble.
