Bra Cup Basics; Simplified!

If you are thinking that there are too many different types of bra cups across the endless brands and labels, you are certainly not alone. Of course, it’s pretty confusing.

To start off with, it’ll be easier if you were to narrow down to only two variations, the Full Coverage Bra and the Demi Bra.

The Full Coverage Bra

The full coverage bra, or sometimes known as the full figure bra, is a bra with cups that cover your breasts entirely. This is usually deemed as the least sexy and revealing bra and it is the ideal bra for daily use.

Its full coverage feature provides more support which makes it ideal for cup sizes above C. Some retailers offer sizes up to G so it is advised that you opt for one with wider straps for better support.

This bra cup is not suitable for small breasted women as the coverage of the cups will be too big for the breasts. The under wires will be poking your body as well.

This particular bra cup also has longer under wires to ensure your breasts are well supported and prevents the bra from being pushed away from your body. This is when an underwire is of grave importance where your busts get adequate support and keeps them in place and to ensure comfort.

The Demi Bra

Demi in French means ‘half’, so the demi bra is actually a half cup bra. The half cup bra covers to about an inch above the nipple exposing the upper area of the breasts making the demi cup the sexy cup.

If small breasts are taking a toll on your self esteem, you certainly have a reason to hold your head up high now because only you can wear the demi bra in style! The demi bra is designed for smaller busts due to its half coverage feature. It has shorter under wires to prevent the metals from poking into your skin and cups your breasts allowing your pretty ladies to sit in their perfect shape.

This is a bad idea for big busted women as there would be spillage over the top and bulges by the sides. When worn for a long time, the lymph nodes underneath the bra area could take some serious damage as well.

The basic idea of these two cups have branched out to many different styles like the balconette bra which is a demi bra padded at the right angles for volume and cleavage and the full coverage plunge bra made suitable for deep V plunge dresses.

Always remember that the bra is to fit in to you, not vice versa!
